Baby Shower Details:
A Baby Shower is often held before the baby is born and was typically called a Baby Shower as it was about ‘showering’ the baby-mumma-to-be with gifts! However, there now are so many ideas and ways to throw a baby shower – and sometimes gifts are no longer expected at all by the Mummy to Be.

Picking the Date:
If held before the birth, the Baby Shower is often thrown around the 7-8 month mark. Does this suit your Mummy to Be and can you mesh out a date together? Or would the couple in fact like a ‘Welcoming’ party instead after the baby is born? Welcoming parties follow a similar theme, they just occur after the baby is born so everyone gets to meet the new arrival as well!
Invitees - Who will make the cut?
Does the Mother to Be want an all-ladies affair, or are all close friends and family to be invited for a modern Co-Ed Baby Shower? Either way, it’s always best to ask the Mummy to Be for her guest list, along with a list of their emails or addresses. You don’t want anyone being missed off! (or accidentally included - eek!) These days everyone is well used to receiving invites for all sorts of events by email, but if you want to go traditional, there’s nothing quite like receiving lovely invites in the post to a special event!
The Venue:
With date and guestlist sorted it’s time to find a venue – whether this be at somebody’s home – either inside or out in the garden, or a hired venue such as an event room or restaurant. Both types of venues are fabulous, and suit different events and/or party sizes.
A close friend or family member’s home is a great choice as a personal and private space to celebrate this lovely event – and of course, there’s no cost involved. Plus, you can go as simple or as wild as you like with the baby shower decorations (with the home owner’s permission!) and have more freedom in terms of food and drink choices.
Alternatively you could hire a venue – costs can vary widely but there are some amazing spaces available and this can take some of the stress out of a large event – often venues will handle some of the set up for you, the catering and the clean up. Yay for no dishes! However, you might want to check if there are any limitations regarding decorating items or styling that can be brought in.
